I went on the workshop in search of inspiration and I certainly found it – but that was the least of what I got from the experience. I learned so much from Drake and Randy, not only in the instructional sense, but more importantly, they taught me how to see things differently. I have loved photography for as long as I can remember, but I have never had the opportunity to express myself so completely through the lens by slowing down and learning how to find beauty in the smallest – and sometimes the biggest – details. Not only were Drake and Randy helpful, knowledgeable and professional in their approach, but the other workshop participants taught me as well. I learned so much as each participant shared their images with the group. Their artistic vision helped me create my own and that is a gift I cannot repay – other than to keep taking photos and attend more workshops, of course!
Beyond the photography, however, what made the trip truly special was the small size of the group and the personal attention and guidance each of us received from Drake and Randy. As well, Drake’s knowledge of the area and his well-established relationships with locals made me feel like I was on my own private tour.
